Snide Inclinations = Chaotic Disposition

Artist Statement

My hands drag the media across the surface of the paper. It's my hands that create the composition, the sensitivity or gusto, movementor stasis. It’s my hands that let thepaint fly or smear, move, erase, wipe away, or dump the charcoal where it needsto go... My hands create the work. In the end, I am just the being covered incharcoal, paint, and everything else that is in the work. To be honest, at thatpoint, I am truly happy.

Emotionis evoked, along with the sense of being completelylost in creation. Forgetting all else and letting myself create withouthindrances, for me these let me spill onto the paper what I bottle up on a dayto day basis.

Experimentation, is how my work begins. These pieces are experiments on black paper, largeand small. It can be exhilarating and terrifying to discover a way to get toany area on a piece that one cannot physically reach, at times stepping on thework. Problem-solving, happenstances, and happy mistakes all have their placein my artwork.
